Funeral services for Robert L. Phillips, 79, East Moline, are 10 AM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 3-5 PM Sunday at the funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association. Robert died Thursday May 13, 2010 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA. Robert was born October 11, 1930 in Liberty, IL, the son of Henry W. and Emma (Winget) Phillips. He married Gladys Tournear in 1952 in Oceanside CA. He served in United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Robert had worked for the Rock Island Lines as a crane operator and as a welder, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and was a master gardener. Survivors include his wife Gladys, children and spouses; Linda and Stephen Riley of Silvis, Robert and Marlene Phillips of Milan, IL and Pamela and Donald Elston of Silvis; six grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a sister Zolavon Graff of Liberty.
