Robert E. Shaw, 88, East Moline, passed away on December 20, 2012 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Funeral services are 11 AM Monday, December 24, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church, East Moline. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services at the church. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Quad City Honor Flight in Bob's name. Bob was born on June 13, 1924 in Lynn Center, IL, the son of Erlo and Bertha Shaw. He worked as an operating engineer for 50 years for Local 150. He married Pauline Neuleib on November 10, 1951 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Geneseo. Pauline passed away on September 25, 2012. Bob was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, East Moline VFW 2056, American Legion Post 227, 5th Marine Division Association. He and his wife enjoyed wintering in Naples Florida for 20 years. Bob and Pauline were also members of the Catfish Jazz Society. He served in the Marine Corp during WWII. His tour included the occupation of Iwo Jima. Bob was proud to have been on an Honor Flight. Survivors include his children, Deb Shaw, Normal, IL, Dave Shaw, Springfield, IL and Jeff (Laura) Shaw, Speedway, IN, grandchildren, Jared, Tyler and Jaclyn (Josh), great grandson Morgan Shaw, daughter-in-law Rise' Shaw, West Dundee, IN, and siblings, Dallas Shaw, Hammond, LA, Bill Shaw, Camp Point, IL, Lois Johnson, Longview, TX, Don Shaw, Geneseo, IL, Mary (Bob) Hackl, Savoy, IL, and John (Mary) Shaw, Davenport, IA, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his son Jim, and a grandson Mike. The family would like to thank The Genesis family for their care and compassion.
