Funeral services for Robert L. Guss, Sr., 91, Moline, are 12 Noon Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 2 hours prior to services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Robert was born October 5, 1914 in Marion, IN, the son of Charles and Edna (Middleton) Guss. He married Leona Ostrand, July 1, 1935 in East Moline. Robert served in the Navy during WWII. He retired in the early 1970's from John Deere Plow Planter as a Mechanical Tool and Dye Maker. He enjoyed watching his sons and grandsons race Stock Cars. Survivors include his wife of 70 years Leona, children (Spouses) Barbara Allen, Coal Valley, Robert (DeAnna) Guss Jr., Moline, Raymond Carl (Margaret) Guss, Calhoun, GA, Annette (Earl) Anderson, Moline and Harry Allen (Donna) Guss, Moline, 14 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 15 great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son Paul H. Guss, brothers Charles and Paul and 2 great-great grandsons.
