Funeral services for Robert Sterling, 82, of East Moline, IL, will be 11 am Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 pm Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Sterling died Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at his home. Robert Sterling was born October 5, 1938, in Davenport, IA, the son of James and Carmel (Brown) Sterling. He served in the US Navy . He married Karen Healey August 17, 1961. He retired as a machine operator from ALCOA, Bettendorf, IA. He loved watching westerns, playing golf, and Spyro video game with his grandchildren. He was a fun loving father who cared deeply for his kids and grandkids. Survivors include his wife of nearly 60 years, Karen; children, Jeffrey (Linda) Sterling, Lowell, MA, Robert Sterling Jr., East Moline, James (Lana) Sterling, Rock Island, IL, David (Maria) Sterling, Australia, Stephen (Roshelle) Sterling, Davenport, Michael (Diane) Sterling, Elgin, IL, Sarah Sterling, Saginaw, MI; grandchildren, Kelly, Katie, Courtney, Carson, Brad, Blake D., Jeanie, Brooke, Geovanni, JonTavius, Blake A., and Augustus; 20 great grandchildren; and sister, Betty Jean Wulf, Tipton, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where he was a member.
