Funeral services for Robert "Bob" Thompson, 95, of Colona, IL, will be 11:00 am Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Wapello Cemetery, Wapello, IA. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Mr. Thompson died Friday, June 24, 2016 at Aspen Health Care, Silvis, IL. Bob was born August 21, 1920 in Wapello, IA, the son of Rodney and Myrtle Benson Thompson. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He married Chrystal Mae Wykert December 8, 1945, in East Moline. She died February 13, 2008. He retired in 1982 from International Harvester Experimental Department, after 37 years of service. He was a charter member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, Pleasant Valley, IA. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Survivors include his daughter, Dawn Haley, Chicago, IL; sons, David (Melinda) Thompson, Moline, and Daniel (Lori) Thompson, Sycamore, IL; 9 grandchildren; 1 great granddaughter; sister, Judy St. Clair, Cahokia, MO; and brother, William (Sharon) Thompson, East Moline. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Deborah Lynn Thompson; grandson, John Robert Haley; sister, Betty Malcom; and brother, Kenneth Thompson.
