Funeral services for Robert Van Thorre, 87, of East Moline, IL, will be 5:00PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Visitation will be 3:00-5:00PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Private committal services will be held in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Robert died Sunday, October 25, 2009 at his home. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice. Bob was born June 4, 1922, in the upstairs bedroom of the Van Thorre Hardware Store in downtown East Moline, the son of Achiel and Sadie Teerlinck Van Thorre. He served in the US Navy during WWII. He married Alta Dumolien May 10, 1947 in East Moline. He owned and operated Van Thorre Construction and then worked out of the Carpenter's Local 241, Moline, IL. Survivors include his wife, Alta Van Thorre , East Moline; daughters, Margo Wright, East Moline, Dr. Anita Knopp, Brunswick, Maine; sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Gloria Van Thorre, East Moline, Doug and Candy Van Thorre, Minneapolis, MN, Brad and Rosanne Van Thorre, Oak Park, IL; 11 grandchildren; sister, Lorena Fron, Prior Lake, MN; brother, Jim Van Thorre, Riverside, IL.
