Funeral services for Robert V. Weinert, 88, of East Moline, IL, will be 9:30 AM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Weinert died Wednesday November 18, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, East Moline, where he had been a member. Bob was born May 16, 1921 in Wataga, IL, the son of Carl and Lulaha Swanson Weinert. He married Mary Novekoff September 2, 1942 in Kahoka, MO. He served in the US Army during WWII. He retired from John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, after 42 years of service. He had been a member of the East Moline American Legion Post 227, the East Moline VFW Post 8890, and the East Moline AMVETS Post 145. He had been the Post 145 AMVET of the year in 1958 and the Illinois AMVET of the year in 1961. He had been a founding member of the Golden Eagles Sr. Drum and Bugle Corp and Los Amigos Jr. Drum and Bugle Corp. He had actively worked with the Buccaneers Jr. Drum and Bugle Corp. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mary Weinert of East Moline; daughter, Sandy Czerwinski of Rock Island; son, Robert Weinert of East Moline; grandchildren, Mary (Mario) Gallardo, Kara Czerwinski, Mark (Ronda) Czerwinski, Matt (Melanie) Czerwinski; 9 great grandchildren; special niece, Jean Albrecht.
