Robert Henry VanderBeke, 93, East Moline, died Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice, Bettendorf. Funeral services are 10:30 AM Thursday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-7 PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Church or for masses. Bob was born on March 14, 1922 in Moline, IL, the son of Rene and Stella (Callawaert) VanderBeke. He married Rose Rumbolt on February 15, 1947 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. She died October 6, 2008. He had worked at American Air Filter for 17 years and 7 years at John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. He was an avid Chicago sports fan and was a motivated fundraising salesman. Bob served in the US Navy during WWII. Survivors include his grandchildren, Amy (Greg) James, Silvis, Mindy (Jeremy) Weggen, Davenport and Danny Edwards (Tracy Friedrich), Davenport, and 8 great grandchildren and a son-in-law, Randy Bandekow, Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Rose and daughter, Beth Bandekow.
