Rodger Alan Belowske, 68, East Moline, died Sunday, February 5, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. Funeral services are 11 AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family for a donation to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Pediatric Oncology. Rodger was born December 13, 1943 in Moline, the son of Clarence and Margery (Loding) Belowske. He graduated from United Township High School in 1961. He married Patricia Ann Ashton on June 28, 1964 in Moline. Rodger retired in 1993 as a fork lift driver from the former Case IH, East Moline. He was active in the UAW local 1304 and served as a Union Legislative Director. Mr. Belowske had served as a Sergeant on the Colona Police Department for nearly 20 years, and had also served as assistant Fire Chief on the Colona Fire Department. Rodger and his wife Patricia had lived in Chandler, AZ for a few years after his retirement from Case IH. While in AZ he worked for the South West Auto Auction in Chandler. He was currently working for the Quad City Auto Auction in Moline. Rodger was a New England Patriots fan, enjoyed attending and watching NASCAR, and was a Harley Davidson Fan. He had a personality that allowed him to make friends easily and, and liked being around people. Survivors include his wife Patricia, daughters and sons-in-law; Angela and Jeff Rettig, Amherst, NH, and Andrea and Jerrod Minnaert, Geneseo, IL, grandchildren, Jacob Rettig, Jessica Rettig, Ryan Lenth and Aaron Lenth, and his beloved 4 legged friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his beloved son Alan.
