Roger L. Smith, 19, of East Moline, IL, died Sunday April, 15, 2018, after a tragic accident that took him from his family. Visitation will be 2:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 21st at FDMC 94 10th Street Carbon Cliff, IL. Roger was born August 7, 1998, in Silvis, IL, the son of Josh and Christy Meyers Smith. He was a graduate of United Township High School. Roger was kind - always willing to give you a hand. He had the biggest heart - loyal – and a sense of humor that would have you in tears. Roger was his Dad, Josh's best friend. They lived together - worked together - and played together. His mother Christy describes him as " the best kid anyone could have with so many friends always at her door". His sister Brittany says "He was so very protective of me, he always picked on me in fun. I love and miss him". His brother Zakkary, the youngest of the Smith family says "RIP Bubby, I will see you again playing in the sand". Survivors include his parents, siblings, Brittany and Zakkary Smith, both at home; his live-in girlfriend, Sara Vincent; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
