Funeral services for Roland “Rocko” J. Rasso, 71, of Rock Island, IL, will be 11:30 AM Friday, May 29, 2026, at Our Lady of Grace Parish at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be 9-11 AM Friday May 29, 2026, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. He passed away Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Celebrate of Moline.
Roland was born October 3, 1954, in Moline, IL, the son of Daniel and Esther Ponciano Rasso. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1977-1981. He had been a prior dedicated member of the Mexican American Veterans Association (M.A.V.A.) Employment included working as a local laborer locally until 2017.
He had been a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears, and he enjoyed spending time watching old westerns. In his younger years, he played baseball for the Campbell’s Island baseball team, a pastime he always remembered fondly. He loved to tinker in his garage finding something to fix or improve, and most of all he loved treasured time spent with family and friends. He will be remembered for his kindness and gentle soul.
Survivors include his sister, Donna Fitch, East Moline, IL; niece, Michelle Hanes, Omaha, NE; great nephew, Omar Hunigan Jr., Davenport, IA; great niece, ShaRee (Brooks) Swanson, Eagle, ID; great-great niece and nephews include Azaylea Barnhart, Lamar Hunigan, and Alexander Swanson, along with a special aunt, Mary Rangel, special uncle Cruz Ponciano, and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Roger Fitch.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family.
The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at OSF Hospital, Peoria, IL, Celebrate of Moline, IL and Compassus Hospice Quad Cities.
