Ronald L. "Big Ron" Henson, 78, Moline, died Sunday, September 18, 2011 at Trinity Rock Island. Memorial services are 10 AM Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to Edgewood Baptist Church where he was a member and had served as a greeter and an usher. Ron was born November 20, 1932 in Pocahontas, MO, the son of Willis and Lola Henson. He married Reda Barks in 1952 and together they had five children. Reda died in 1985. Big Ron had worked at Thompson Body Shop, in Milan, later at Ator Brothers in Orion for many years , and most recently for the Rock Island County Metropolitan Mass Transit District's Rock Island Garage. He married Barbara Stogsdill on February 22, 1994 in Las Vegas, NV. Ron had served as a volunteer fireman for the Black Hawk Township Fire District, Milan and enjoyed traveling and camping. He was a ham radio operator for over 50 years with the call letters K9SDQ. Survivors include his wife Barbara, his children and spouses; Ronna Moreno, East Moline, Kathy and Kent Breecher, Moline, Chuck and Jean Henson, Colona and Terry Henson, Chicago, six grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, a brother Kenneth Henson, Atlanta, GA, Barb's children: Caron Nugent, Geneseo Robin Robb, Moline and David Robb, La Cross, WI and their families. He was preceded in death by his daughter Patty and a brother Barney.
