Ronald M. Raymond Sr., 77, Silvis, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Trinity Rock Island. Funeral services are 10 AM Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 3-7 PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 2:30 PM. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the family. Ron was born on February 24, 1940 in Moline, the son of Joe and Goldie (Claeys) Raymond. He married Virginia A. Gomez on January 16, 1960 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. She died March 31, 1991. Ron worked as a butcher, a piece worker at John Deere Harvester works, and owned and operated Ron's Town Liquor in East Moline for nearly 20 years He was very active with the Illinois Liquor Association. He was known for his Cub's bus trips, bashes and being the Enchilada Guy. Ron was a Italian-Belgian who embraced Mexican culture. He will be remembered for his love of family and the pasta dinners at PaPa's house. Survivors include his children, Roxann (Armando) Martinez, Silvis, Kathy (Dale) Schutters, Moline and Ron Raymond Jr. (Dixie Dobbels), East Moline, grandchildren, Ashley (Mike), Nichoel, Danita (Lance), Victoria, Armando Jr., Danielle, Ronnie III and Virginia, six great grandchildren, and sisters, JoAnne (Chuck) Daniels, Hampton and Marylou Kean, East Moline. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joe Raymond Jr. and great grandson Cayden.
