Ronald "Ron" Jones, age 86, of East Moline, passed away Friday, October 30, 2026, comforted by his wife Bonnie. Born August 10, 1940, Ron was known for his quiet strength, loyalty, and memorable dry sense of humor.

In accordance with his wishes, Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline is assisting the family with cremation. Ron’s family will have a Celebration of Life gathering in his honor at a later date.

Ron proudly served in the National Guard and worked for many years at the East Moline Water Department. On October 27, 1972, he married Bonnie Ellis, and together they shared 54 years of marriage.

A lifelong automobile enthusiast, Ron especially loved Oldsmobiles and Chevys and enjoyed classic car shows. He took great pride in his award-winning collection of classic cars. He also enjoyed newspapers, word and jigsaw puzzles, Florida's coastline, and carefully cataloging his classic movies.

Quiet by nature, Ron chose his words carefully—but when a subject captured his interest, he had plenty to say. He was a devoted husband and cherished by many family and friends.

His kindness and humor will be fondly remembered.

Surviving are his wife, Bonnie; several cousins; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and their families.

Ron was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Rachel Jones Weaver and Richard Weaver, and his father, Truman Jones.

His memory will live on through those who loved him and the many memories they shared.
