Ronald E. "Poochie" Sanders, 77, Prophetstown, IL, passed away on Friday, October 29, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services are 10 AM Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Kemmis Cemetery, Prophetstown. Visitation is 3 til 7 PM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to Erie Christian Church, where he attended or UTCares.

Ron was born on August 2, 1944 in Dixon, IL, the son of Everett and Edith (Teichman) Sanders. He graduated from United Township High School, class of 1962. He married Lola Kay Jackson on March 22, 1969 in East Moline. Ron Retired in 1998 as an assembler at John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline. Poochie raced stock cars in earlier years and coached Blazer Girls Softball. Family was everything to Ron and loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events. He was a St. Louis Cardinal Fan and Illini basketball fan.

Survivors include his wife, Kay, daughters; Rhonda (Douglas) Bartz, Silvis, and Jill (Chad) Sanders-Colgan, East Moline, grandchildren; Kayla, Dustin (Breanah), Jackson and Max, great-grandchildren; Finley and Lillian, sister, Joyce Hoffman, Colona, and sisters-in-law; Margaret Sanders, Fedway, WA and Virginia Sanders, Silvis.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Edith and brothers, James and Julian and brother-in-law Paul Hoffman.
