Funeral services for Ronald L. Smith, 70, of Moline, IL, will be 10:00 am Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Moline. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Smith died Easter Sunday, April 16, 2017, at his home. Ron was born August 31, 1946, in Moline, IL, the son of Leroy and Marion Andrus Smith. He served as an Airman Second Class in the duty of Aircraft Mechanic in the 19th Air Commando Squadron in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam conflict. He married Janice Lee McIntosh March 11, 1972, in Moline. She died June 30, 2013. He was a supervisor of industries for the Illinois Department of Corrections, retiring in 2012, after 30 years of service. He influenced everyone he met. He loved and was truly dedicated to his family. Survivors include his daughter, RisaJilane Claire Laster, Moline, IL; sons, Eric Joseph Smith, Suisun City, CA, Ryan Patrick Smith, Bloomington, IL, Jed Hunter Smith, Chatsworth, IL, Jordan L. Smith, Moline, IL, Jared Dale Smith, Moline, IL; daughters-in-law, Jenifer Shandrow-Smith, Normal, IL; Amy Smith, Suisun City, CA; son-in-law Nicholas Laster; grandchildren, Austin Joseph, Dakota Iris, Holden Christian, Caitlin Ryleigh, Alana Quinn, and Gavin Donovan; Sister, Karen Nielsen, Melbourne, FL.
