IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rosa Lee
Mandrell
December 13, 1932 – August 27, 2025
Rosa Lee Mandrell, lovingly known as "Rosie," was a dedicated, resilient, and reliable beacon of love and support in the lives of her family, friends, and community.
Born on December 13, 1932, in Nettie, W.V., Rosa spent her life cultivating love and nurturing growth, both in her cherished garden and in the lives of those fortunate enough to know her. Her unwavering commitment to those she loved was rivaled only by her devotion to her passions; as a retired chef, Rosa found joy in the culinary arts, quilting, bird watching, and gardening.
Rosa's resilience was an inspiration to all who knew her, a characteristic that echoed her favorite quote by Maya Angelou: "I can be changed by what happens to me, but I refuse to be reduced by it." Rosa's strength and determination were evident in her professional life as a chef, where she poured her love into every dish she created, making her a beloved figure in the culinary world. Even in retirement, Rosa's love for cooking never waned, with her family often being the eager recipients of her culinary creations. Her dedication extended into her community involvement, as a member of the Moose lodge and the Christ Church of the Quad Cities in Colona, Ill.
Rosa is survived by her four children, Brenda (Chad) Mosbaugh, Robert (Vickie) Moore, Kemberly (Matt) McDowell, and Vicki (Steve) Cutforth; sister, Betty Coopman; brother, Denny Strader; grandkids, Peyton (Chris) Dieter, Dave (Stacey) Moore, and Colton Cutforth; and great-grandkids, Ryan Moore and Elouise Dieter.
Rosa was preceded in death by her parents, Jiles and Mary Strader; brothers, Jesse and Denver Strader; and sister, Sue Bruce. Rosa's legacy of love, resilience, dedication, and reliability will live on through those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. CDT on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Christ Church of the Quad Cities, 403 3rd St., Colona, Ill. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the same location, with Pastor Russell Frye officiating. Burial will take place at Greenview Memorial Gardens, 1201 Avenue of the Cities, East Moline, Ill.
We invite you to share memories, stories, and photos of Rosa on her memorial page, celebrating a life filled with love, resilience, and dedication. We ask that as you remember Rosa, remember her not only for the love she gave but also for the strength she embodied and the lives she touched.
