Funeral services for Rosendo I. "Andy" Terronez, 82, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 2:00-8:00PM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 5:30PM. Mr. Terronez died Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made for masses. Mr. Terronez was born March 1, 1925 in Box Car #4 in the Silvis Yards, Silvis, IL, the son of Pedro and Juanita (Ibarra) Terronez. He married Cecelia Gamino in Peoria, IL. He had worked for the former Rock Island Lines, Silvis, and later for John Deere Harvester, East Moline, where he retired in 1983 after 38 years of service. Rosendo had been a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis and St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. He had been a member of Fr. Pro Society at Our Lady of Guadalupe. He was an avid reader, especially history, enjoyed all sports, mom's apple pie, and sitting on his back patio listening to the birds. Family gatherings were important to him, especially the Terronez Family Reunion. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and just being around his grandbabies. He loved his family, church, religion, God, and the Virgin of Guadalupe. He will be missed by all. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Cecelia Terronez, of Silvis; daughters and sons-in-law, Celia Johnson of Huntsville, AL, Olivia Terronez of Barstow, IL, Celestine and Mamady Kaba of Rock Island, IL, Lydia and Wade Malcolm of Moline, IL, Lillian and Cevin Skelton of Rockford, IL; sons and daughters-in-law, Rosendo and Gloria Terronez Jr. of East Moline, Raymond and Victoria Terronez of East Moline, Seferino and Regina Terronez of Moline; 31 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren; sister, Marie Magana of Sterling, IL; many nieces and nephews; his family in Leon, GTO, Mexico. The family would like to thank the late Simon and Maria Sierra who helped raise Rosendo as a child. Special thanks also goes out to Theresa Sierra and her late husband Louis T., who helped care for him during his adolescent years. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Daylin Johnson, sister, Victoria Polzin, brothers, Raymond, Louis, and Manuel Terronez, special cousin, Lucita Zermeno.
