Funeral services for Roy L. Sims, 82, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at the Church of Christ, Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Sims died Friday, September 28, 2007 at his home. Memorials may be made to the family. Roy was born July 23, 1925 in Pike County, IL, the son of Clifford and Opal (Capps) Sims. He married Betty Dawson June 30, 1951 in Payson, IL. He served in the US Army during WWII. He retired from the former Rock Island Lines, Silvis, IL, after 31 years of service. His family was the most important thing is his life. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved going to church and his church family. Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Betty Sims of East Moline; sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Pam Sims of East Moline, Greg and Janelle Sims of Pueblo West, CO; grandchildren and spouses, Jennifer and Chris Belzer of Roselle, IL, Jill and Michael Ryan of Silvis, IL; Jason and Lily Sims, of Broomfield, CO, Lucas and Melissa Sims of Broomfield, Clayton and Naomi Sims of Broomfield; 10 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sylvia Morrison, brother, Ervan Sims.
