Private graveside services for Roy W. Wright, 77, of Aledo, IL, formerly of East Moline, IL, will be held at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL, where military honors will be provided by the East Moline American Legion Post #227. Mr. Wright died Wednesday, July 18, 2007 at Mercer County Nursing Home, Aledo. In lieu of memorials or flowers please plan something memorable with your family of friends. He had been a resident at the nursing home for 4 years, where all of the staff provided loving and gentle care for Roy. Near the end, Community Hospice of Galesburg provided their excellent care. Roy thought funerals are sad and wished for no visitation or funeral, and if by chance you have time, a prayer would be cherished. Roy was born December 1, 1929 in Romona, KS, the son of George and Arda (Kellogg) Wright. He married Colleen Brown of Silvis, IL, June 1, 1951 in East Moline. He had served as Staff Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He had worked at Johnson Sheet Metal for 30 years and had served on the executive board for Sheet Metal Local #91. Survivors include: his wife, Colleen Wright of Aledo; daughter and son-in-law, Joline and Tim Stout of East Moline; son, Timothy Wright of East Moline; grandchildren, Jake and Nick Wright, Eleanor Stout.
