Ruben Garza Peña , 71, of Coal Valley, IL, passed away Monday, November 11, 2024 at his home in Coal Valley.

A time of visitation will be held for family and friends from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday, November 15th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later.

Ruben was born December 15, 1952, in Crystal City, Texas, a son of Morgan and Concepcion (Garza) Peña. He married Rosemary Ochoa on January 3, 1969, in Bettendorf, Iowa.

He was a warehouse manager for several area companies before his retirement.

Ruben enjoyed basketball, baseball, and golfing. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys and Chicago Bulls fan. Some of his favorite times were spent with family. He was a father figure to many of his nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by all.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Rosemary, of Coal Valley, IL; daughters, Veronica (Higinio) Alvarez, of Des Moines, IA; Rebecca (Rick) Jones, Colona, IL, Patricia (Mike) Tingle, Altoona, IA, and Sonya Peña, San Antonio, TX; sons, Ruben Peña, Jr., Colona, IL, and Morgan Peña, Coal Valley, IL; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; siblings, Adrian Peña, Pedro Peña, and Herminia Montez; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family.

Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan and Concepcion; and siblings, Berta Gonzalez, Fred Peña, Gloria Molina, and Francisca Ochoa.
