Obituary

Russell P. Boore, 62, of Oceanside, CA, formerly of Hampton, IL, passed away Friday, October 11, 2024, in Oceanside, CA. Visitation will be held 10:00-11:00 AM on Friday, November 8th, 2024, followed by the funeral service at 11:00AM at the Van Hoe Funeral Home in East Moline. Graveside service for family and close friends will be at 2:00 PM Friday at Hopewell Cemetery, New Windsor, IL. There will be no procession to the cemetery.

Russ was born December 24, 1961, in Davenport, IA, the son of Robert and Roberta Boore. He married Jamie Schoonover September 19, 1986, in Las Vegas, NV.

He started his career in printing and taught graphic arts at United Township High School. While teaching, Russ coached the high school cross country and track teams and his kids' basketball and baseball teams. Russ also self-taught himself to build his own home in Hampton, which led to him starting his own business, "Boore's Builders", where he designed and built many homes in the Quad Cities.

Russ had many hobbies and was very hardworking and gifted. He was a professional runner, participating in over thirty marathons, and even placed 6th in his division in the 2006 Boston Marathon. In his younger years, Russ was a great tennis player, loved music, and self-taught himself to play the drums.

He was a giving and compassionate man who always cared about the happiness of others. He loved his family and has touched many lives, whether it was helping kids pursue their dreams in running, building homes for families, spending time with his kids and grandkids, sharing his faith and the love of Jesus, and much more.

Survivors include his children, Johnna Cato, Oceanside, CA, Benjamin (Leah) Boore, Bettendorf, IA, Russel P. (Kelsea) Boore II, New Windsor, IL, Isaac Boore, New Windsor, IL, and Adeline Boore, Chicago, IL; 7 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; his father, Robert Boore, Bettendorf, IA; and his sister, Renee (Joe) Wittrock, Mission Viejo, CA.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Benjamin Boore, whom he has joined in Heaven.

Flowers can be sent to Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Thank you to all those who helped donate to bring Russ home to Illinois so he will always be close to his family. We are forever grateful.
