Funeral services for Ruth I. Longnecker, 89, East Moline, are 11 AM Thursday at First Christian Church, East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services at the church. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, where she was a member or to Alzheimers Research. Ruth died Monday, April 5, 2010 at Forest Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation, East Moline. Ruth Staley was born June 13, 1920 in Koshkonong, MO, the daughter of Roy and Etta (Linn) Staley. She married Porter Longnecker on May 18, 1941 in West Plains, MO. Porter died December 30, 1967. Ruth retired in 1985 as a clerk from the Rock Island Post Office. She enjoyed crocheting and reading. Survivors (spouses) include her children; Mary (Tom) Harper, Sammamish, WA, Larry (Linda) Longnecker, Erie, IL, Patricia (Scott) Frazelle, Colona, IL, James (Connie) Longnecker, Machesney Park, IL, Mearle (Sheryl) Longnecker, Rockford, IL, Clara (Jerry) Miller, Silvis, IL and Mark (Kari) Longnecker, New Albany, IN, 19 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, a great-great grandson,and a brother Harvey (Marylou) Staley Muscatine, IA. She is preceded in death by her husband, seven brothers and 6 sisters.
