Sally Britton, 62 of East Moline, IL passed away on Sunday June 30, 2019 at home.
A visitation will be held on Friday July 5, 2019 from 4PM to 6PM at Van Hoe Funeral Home, LTD., in East Moline. Cremation will be accorded following the visitation. Memorials may be made to the Colona Fire Department.
Sally Ann Dietz was born on March 22, 1957 in Maquoketa, IA the daughter of Percy and Betty (Usher) Dietz. Growing up in Cleveland, IL, Sally took part in 4H, and attended J.D. Darnall Senior High School in Geneseo, IL where she was a member of the Girls Varsity Softball team and the Future Homemakers of America. She graduated in 1976.
Sally worked for a short time as part of a road construction team for Quad City Construction. Most people might be remember Sally from her work as a cook at Harvey's Restaurant (Sharon's Family Restaurant) in East Moline, IL and as a bartender at the Capitol Tap and Irene's Tavern. She later worked for Servalite Products until the plant was closed.
She married Rodney Britton on September 10, 1983. Sally and Rod enjoyed spending time with family and friends at a number of campsites in Illinois and Wisconsin. She was a past Madam President of the Silvis Area Eagles #1839 and an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.
Survivors include her husband Rodney Britton, brothers Roger (Lyn) Dietz, Jacksonville, IL and Percy (Kali) Dietz, East Peoria, IL and sister Patty Gilbert, East Moline, IL and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents.
