Salvador Castro , 85, of East Moline, IL, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024, at his home in East Moline.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 19th, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Moline. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. A rosary will be recited 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 18th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with visitation following from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later.

Salvador was born February 26, 1939, in La Puerta del Monte, Guanajato, Mexico, a son of Luis Castro Campos and Esther Romero Medina. He married Ma Refugio Chavez Zamudio on July 19, 1958, in Morelia, Mexico.

He was a faithful member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Moline, where he served as a Lector. Salvador also enjoyed reading, music and fishing. Some of his favorite times were those spent with friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all.

Surviving are his wife, Ma Refugio Chavez Zamudio; children, Roberto (Anna) Castro, Gabriel (Susana) Castro, and Jose (Monica) Castro; grandchildren, Andrea Castro, David Castro, Oscar (Marlene) Castro, Abraham Castro, Ariel Castro, Kamilah Castro; great granddaughter, Lyla; siblings, Celia Castro, Carolina Castro, Maria Castro, Guadalupe Castro, and Rosa Castro; and many nieces, nephews, and other family.

Salvador was preceded in death by his daughter, Lourdes Castro; son, Jose Luis Castro; his parents, Luis and Esther; and brothers, Roberto Castro, Luis Castro, and Manuel Castro.
