Funeral services for Salvador J. Hernandez, 95, Moline, are 10 AM Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services at the church. Mr. Hernandez died Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at home. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Church, where he was a member. Salvador was born April 11, 1911 in Zamora, Michuacan, Mexico, the son of David "Biruta" and Josefa (Torrez) Hernandez. He married Maria Herrera in 1938 in Mexico. He had worked as a concrete man, carpenter and retired as a mechanic and welder from Roy E. Roth, Rock Island. His love for music showed in his singing in St. Mary's Choir and the playing of his guitar. Survivors include his children; Arcie Gregory, Davenport, Rachel Thompson, Monmouth, IL, Rose Phelan, Loveland, CO, Laura Moore, Geneseo, Sal Hernandez, Vermillian, SD, Rico Hernandez, Moline, Victor Hernandez, East Moline and Eric Hernandez, Rock Island, fourteen grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death in 2000.
