Sandra Kay Johnson, 69, of Silvis, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at her residence surrounded by her husband and three sons.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a later date. Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline is assisting Sandra's family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation or the Lewy Body Dementia Association in Sandra's memory.

Sandra was born July 6, 1955, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Henry and Kathleen (Huff) Dirks. She graduated from Kewanee High School in 1973. Sandra married Michael R. Johnson on July 1, 1975, in Cambridge, Illinois. She worked in the banking industry most of her life and retired from the Rock Island Arsenal Credit Union. Sandra was an avid reader and loved romance novels. She also enjoyed crocheting and watching HGTV. Above all, she loved watching her grandchildren play in various sporting events.

Those left to cherish Sandra's memory include her husband of 49 years, Michael; sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Tammy Johnson, Brian and Lori Johnson, and Mike Jr. and Megan Johnson; grandchildren, Heather (Zack), Angela (Colton), Morghan, Austin (Vanessa), Jayson, McKenna, Brenden (Shawnee), and Russell; great-grandchildren, Emily, Macey, Bryant, Cameron, Amelia, and Aiyana; siblings, Karen and Tom Hornback, Vickie and Karl Broyles, Cindy and Daniel Roberts, Tom and Eileen Dirks, Pat and Mark Shewhart, and Kathy Dirks; 29 nieces and nephews; and 24 great-nieces and great-nephews.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Arthur Johnson; and brother-in-law, Joseph Johnson.

Sandra's family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregiver and close friend, Sandi Sonneville. They would also like to acknowledge Lisa Cardenas, Tyona Baylor, and the staff at Heartland Hospice, especially Bethany Fry for the care given to Sandra.
