Santos Rangel, 78, East Moline, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity Rock Island. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Friday, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. Burial is at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 2 p.m. A memorial fund has been established. Santos was born on Nov. 1, 1936, in Anahuac, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, the daughter of Antonio and Evangelina Elizalde. She married Adolfo Rangel Sr. on Sept. 27, 1950, in Mexico. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was hard working and enjoyed cooking. Santos would always put others before herself and was a devout Catholic. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Adolfo; children, Maria Rangel (Juan DeSilva), Moline, Jose (Lada) Rangel, Colona, Adolfo "George" (Shara) Rangel Jr., Moline, Bertha (Joe) Tapia, Hampton, Norma (Jerry) Montez, East Moline, Rosa Rangel, East Moline, Ruben Rangel (Michelle Tallman), Moline, Eva (Richard) Lyon, Moline, Antonio Rangel, Overland Park, Kan., and Roberto Rangel, Moline; 23 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren with two on the way; and siblings, twin sister, Emilia (Ricardo) Muniz, Bertha Fiss, Ruben (Betty) Elizalde, Jose Angel (Juana) Elizalde, Antonio (Guadalupe) Elizalde, Dagoberto (Cristina) Elizalde and Enrique (Norma) Elizalde; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first born, Emilio; her parents; sisters, Frances and Guadalupe; brothers, Luis, Manuel and Gustavo.
