Funeral services for Sarah "Ellen" Shock, 95 of Silvis, IL, will be 11:00 Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 2 hours prior to services at the funeral home. Mrs. Shock died Monday, July 31, 2006 at Aspen Health and Rehab Center. A memorial fund has been established for the education of her great- granddaughter. Sarah Chapman was born December 4, 1910 in Sewal, IA, the daughter of Robert E. and Elizabeth (Fields) Chapman. She married Robert C. Shock December 24, 1937 on a farm in Putman County, IA. Mr. Shock died September 8, 1961. She had been a cook for many years, working at the YWCA in her earlier years and retiring from George O. Barr School, Silvis, IL. She was well known for her delicious pies and other fresh baked goodies. She enjoyed taking day trips, going out to eat, and flowers. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, James and Shary Shock of East Moline, IL; granddaughters (spouse) Amber and Jeremy Bettis of Colona, IL, Breanne Shock of East Moline, IL; great granddaughter, Jenna Lyn Bettis.
