Funeral services for Scott H. Hoereth, 69, of Moline, IL, will be 1:00PM Friday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Cordova Cemetery, Cordova, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 PM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 6:45 PM. Mr. Hoereth died Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at his home. Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church. Scott was born April 7, 1943 in Beech Grove, IN, the son of Robert and Virginia Hankins Hoereth. He had served in the Civil Air Patrol. He married Barbara Youngs August 31, 1963. He later married Mari (Tingley) Stropes June 29, 1985 in Rock Island, IL. Over the years he had been a salesman for several local auto dealerships and had worked for Moline Body, Koenig Body and Equipment, Moline and Peoria, IL, and finally owned and operated Ideal Equipment, Moline, retiring in 2007. He devoted the rest of his life to Cursillo and The Knights of Columbus, where he was Grand Knight. Scott was a bighearted person who never new a stranger. He had been a member of the Optimist Club, active in Little League Baseball, and Dad's Club. Survivors include his wife, Mari Hoereth, Moline; daughters, Heidi Stanley, Davenport, IA, Lesley (Doug) DeLille, Moline, and Dana Hoereth, Rock Island; sons, Gregory Hoereth, Overland Park, Kansas, Lonny (Traci) Stropes, Albany, IL, and Christopher Hoereth, Rock Island; 9 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Deborah (John) Higgins, Greenwood, IN; and a vast extended family.
