Funeral services for Severo H. "Juan" Velez, 48, East Moline, are 10 AM Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Visitation is 2-7 Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. A memorial fund has been established. Severo died Thursday March 4, 2010 at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City, IA. He was born May 1, 1961 in San Felix Rijo, Puebla, Mexico, the son of Abelardo and Natalia (Huesca) Velez. He married Marian Uribe on March 20, 1982. He had worked as a welder at Sivyer Steel, Bettendorf, IA. Severo enjoyed hunting, fixing cars and being with the people he loved. Survivors include his wife Marian, children and spouses: Juan Velez, East Moline, Esperanza and Javier Ruiz, Milan and Veronica and Ramon Rico, East Moline, grandchildren; Uriana, Leslie, Mili, and Javier, his father Abelardo, and siblings; Roberta Gonzalez, Lazaro Velez, Ramon Velez, Minerva Garcia, Virginia Velez, Hugo Velez, Federica Velez, Isidoro Velez, Abelardo Velez Jr., Patricia Velez and Laura Velez. His mother preceded him in death.
