Shannon D. Mercer, 53, East Moline, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2016 at Generations at Rock Island. A memorial gathering will be held from 2-4 PM on Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Shannon was born on June 20, 1962 in Moline, to Jim and Yvonne (Helm) Mercer. He graduated from UTHS in 1980 where he was a member of the first swim team. Shannon married Rose Weniger and had 2 sons. He loved his boys very much and was proud of both of them. He had worked as a concrete finisher and enjoyed playing cribbage, euchre and pool. Survivors include his sons, Drew, Iowa City, Spencer, East Moline; parents, Yvonne, East Moline and Jim, Rock Island; brother, Roy(Jean), Geneseo; sisters, Meaghan Barnett, Aran(Jeff)Reddig, all of Colona and Nolen Devlin, Rock Island; and many nieces and nephews.
