Shelby L. Lawver, 81, Milan, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Unity Point Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral services are 10 AM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Milan Animal Shelter.

Shelby was born October 15, 1937 in Astoria, IL, the son of Edgar and Mary (Sears) Lawver. He married Edna Waddell on June 15, 1960 in Rock Island. She died May 15, 2014. Shelby retired after 32 years from Asplundh with the former Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric Company. Shelby served 11 years with the Milan Auxiliary Police Department and 13 years as Chief of Police for Sherrard, IL. He received many awards for his marksmanship. In retirement he enjoyed taking his scooter out and loved his bird "Polly".

Survivors include his son, Jeff (Karen) Lawver, Milan, grandchildren, Sara Lawver, Brandon Lawver, Dalton Lawver, Beth Ann "Bill" Whitworth and Michael (Sara) Schomer; great grandchildren, Ayedan, Ashton and Aynzlee Lynn Schomer; and siblings; Martha Ingram, Albuquerque, NM, Larry Lawver, Moline, Jimmy Lawver, Rock Island, Linda Gibson, Moline, Gary Lawver, Rock Island, Peggy Janosky, Green Cove Springs, FL, and Connie Lamar, Moline, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by daughters, Crystal and Christine, his parents and Sister Joan.
