Funeral services for Shirley M. Eleopulos, 87, of Columbus, IN, formerly of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00AM Tuesday at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, Rock Island, IL. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Trisagion (Prayer) Service will be held at 6:30PM. Mrs. Eleopulos died Wednesday December 10, 2014 at her daughter's home in Columbus, IN. Shirley Schafer was born September 9, 1927 in Rock Island, the daughter of James and Minnie Cunningham Schafer. She married Thomas Eleopulos September 9, 1944 in Davenport, IA. He died March 10, 2000. Shirley had worked at the former Metrobank, East Moline, where she had been a teller trainer. She had been a member of the Philoptochos Society of St. George. She was a wonderful seamstress and enjoyed sewing. Survivors include her daughters, Karen (Laurence) Loete, Apple River, IL, Helen Sue (Earnest) Williams, Ohatchee, AL, Mary Jo (Gary) West, Peoria, IL, and Jeanne Svetlick, Columbus, IN; son, Thomas (Cathy) Eleopulos, Tooele, Utah; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; sister, Betty Chevrilla, CA; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and son-in-law, Rudy Svetlick.
