Shirley J. Lukins, 87, East Moline, passed away on Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Genesis, Silvis. Funeral services are 10 AM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is from 9AM until service time. Memorials may be made to the Henry County Humane Society. Shirley was born on August 21, 1928 in Rock Island, the daughter of William and Helen (Stump) Walker. She married James Lukins on July 3, 1961 in St. Joseph, Michigan. Shirley joined Royal Neighbors of America where she worked for 43 years until her retirement in 1990. She held various positions until her final promotion to manager of Correspondence Department. She enjoyed playing golf and tennis, traveling and dining on Tuesday with her women's social group "The Club". She and her husband were former members of Geneseo Country Club, and the Olde Hickory Golf and Country Club in Ft. Myers, FL, where they wintered for many years. Survivors include daughter-in-law, Denise Howell, Geneseo, grandchildren, Ryan Howell, Mandy (Brandon) Heller and Kerry (Shea) Jones, several nieces and nephews, and special friends, Annie Kallabach, Valorie and Jim Breen and sister-in-law Mary Lukins. She was preceded in death by her husband, son, James Howell, granddaughter, Jamey Howell, her parents and brothers Kenneth and William.
