Shirley VanThorre, 86, of East Moline, IL, passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. Private committal services will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline.

Shirley was born April 8, 1936, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Julius "Joseph" and Edna (Bohart) Claeys. She married George Van Thorre. They later divorced. She had worked for John Deere Parts Depot and later retired from the Kahl Home, Davenport, IA.

Survivors include her daughters, Lisa (Paul) Walter, Taylor Ridge, IL, and Deborah (David) Neighbours, Moline; grandchildren, David (Dena) Hagerman, Devan (Marisa) Walter, and Haley (Ryan) Olson; great-grandchildren, Drew, Avery, Bentley, Braxton, River, and Rogue; step brother, Robert Frey, Greendale, WI; and God-daughter and "special daughter", Trudy Loerzel, Heber Springs, AR.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Clayton Frey; and her brother, Herbert Claeys.
