Shirley M. Welvaert, 89, of New Perspective, Silvis, IL (formerly of East Moline) died Friday, December 14, 2018, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 pm Sunday at theVan Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline where a rosary will be recited at 3:30pm.

Shirley was born February 1, 1929 in Rock Island, IL, to Glenn and Ruth Wiegand Wells. She graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1947. On October 1, 1949 she married Raymond Welvaert in Rock Island. He passed away May 14, 2013.

Shirley was a mother and home maker, worked for Royal Neighbors Insurance, but primarily for Le Claire Quarries (now River Stone Group) as a book keeper. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline, and the Rock Island County Home Extension. She loved craft work, crochet, knitting, and playing cards with friends and family.

Survivors include her three sons, Donald (Sally), Moline, Gerald (Janet) Jetmore, KS, and Eugene (Sheila), East Peoria, IL; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; sisters, Joan Guise, Rock Island, and Patricia (Joe) DePover, Rock Island; brothers, Raymond Wells, Moline; and sister-in-law, Mary Wells, Rock Island, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Glenn; and a granddaughter, Erika Spengler.

Memorials may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church or Alleman High School.
