Obituary

The intrepid adventurer, Socorro Cardoso departed on January 15, 2011 on her final journey. We wish her a safe and joyous voyage as she is reunited with her husband, Armando, her son Alex, and countless family and friends. She has left the world a better place for having touched our lives, here, in France, and in Mexico. Among the many things she taught us are: a joy for life undiminished by the years and a youthfulness that was infectious. She has left her grandchildren and great grandchildren an indelible image of "Sporty Grandma". Her joy was manifested in dancing, swimming, and aerobics. "Soco's Team" will run faster now. Our travels will be with her eyes and with her courage. Our affection will be with her heart. Our touch will be with her gentleness. Our laughter will be true and we will be the last one dancing because this is a life that has to be lived. Socorro Rodriguez was born December 4, 1919 in Uruapan, Michoacán, Mexico, the daughter of Everardo and Conchita Linares Rodriguez. She married Armando Cardoso January 6, 1944 in Mexico City, Mexico. He died November 12, 2008. She had worked at various department stores in the Quad City area over the years.
