Socorro "Coco" V. Tristan (Valdez-Mandojuano), 82, of East Moline, IL, passed away Monday, November 11, 2024, at Illini Medical Center, Silvis, IL.

A Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 18th, at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. A Rosary will be recited at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 17th, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, with visitation following until 5:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family to be designated later.

Socorro was born October 20, 1942, in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas, MX. She moved to Laredo, TX during her teenage years. She later moved to Colona, IL and then East Moline, IL when she married Romualdo Tristan Sr. on July 22, 1960. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1986. Socorro received her U.S. citizenship on September 12, 1986.

She worked at McLaughlin Body Company, Black Hawk College, John Deere, Nancy's Pies, Group O and cared for many of her grandkids, Sonia Herrera(Breon Hickman III), Andrew (Samantha) Zinke, Nathaniel Zinke (Kayla DePoorter), Miranda Zinke, Emily (Peter) Stopoulos, Clarisa Ostrowski, Selica (Dakota) Johnson, Christopher Romualdo Tristan, Annika Tristan and 7 great grandkids with 2 on the way.

She loved listening to music and dancing. She loved cooking for the family. She enjoyed passing her time at the casino and doing scratch offs.

Survivors include her children: Norma Tristan, Ellie (Greg) Zinke, Belinda (Bill) Ostrowski, Romualdo Tristan Jr.; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and 2 on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews, and loved ones. She was preceded in death by her husband, all 13 siblings, and her grandson Martin I. Tristan-Aguirre II.
