Funeral services for Sophia Mihalopoulos, 83, East Moline, are 10 AM Thursday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Trisagion Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 PM. Sophia died Sunday, May 15, 2011 at Trinity, Bettendorf. Memorials may be made to Assumption Church, where she was a member. Sophia Apostolopoulos was born March 8, 1927 in Polylophos, Greece, the daughter of Theodore and Panagiota Apostolopoulos. She married Christ Mihalopoulos on May 22, 1955 in Greece. In 1966 Sophia and her husband immigrated from Messinia, Greece to East Moline. She had worked as a seamstress at the former Seaford Clothing, Rock Island for 23 years. Sophia enjoyed baking and volunteering at Assumption Church. She dearly loved her family. Survivors include her children and spouses; Pam and Mike Lagogiannes, East Moline, Lambros and Lisa Mihalopoulos, Moline and Sharie Mihalopoulos, Stuttgart, Germany, and grandchildren Christopher and William Mihalopoulos. She is preceded in death by her husband Christ, who died December 12, 2003.
