Obituary

Stanley Joe Cornmesser, 53, East Moline, died Monday, November 28, 2011 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funeral services are 12 Noon Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is from 10 AM until service time. Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Joe was born March 6, 1958 in Corydon, IA, the son of John and Evelyn (Mattly) Cornmesser. He graduated from UTHS class of 1976. He married Tammy Miller on January 15, 1977 in East Moline. He owned and operated the Keg Tavern in East Moline. Joe was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan. He enjoyed taking road trips and loved vacationing in Key West, FL. Survivors include his wife of 34 years Tammy, children, Amy (Mark) Harris, Moline, Joe Cornmesser Sr., (Kelly Wiesman), Camanche, IA, and James Cornmesser, East Moline, grandchildren, Joe Cornmesser Jr., and Jared Wiesman, his mother and step father, Evelyn and Jim Wildermuth, East Moline,siblings, Johnnie (Julie) Cornmesser, Davenport, IA, Pam Kallestad, Winterset, IA, Bruce (Connie) Cornmesser, Moline and Annette Granack, East Moline, and his mother-in-law Wanda Miller, East Moline, brother-in-law Jerry Pauwels, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, sister Mary Ann Pauwels, nephew Todd France and his father-in-law Bud Miller. The family would like to thanks the ICU staff at Genesis Illini, Dr. Dannenfeldt and his staff, and the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for their care and compassion.
