Obituary

Funeral services for Stanley "Curt" Johnson, 80, of Davenport, IA, will be 1:00PM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 5:00-8:00PM Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Mr. Johnson died Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport. Memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Shelter, Milan, IL. Mr. Johnson was born November 13, 1928 in Geneseo, IL, the son of Raymond and Mary (Andrews) Johnson. He married Delores VanDierendonck in 1945. He later married Nadine Jump June 9, 1956 in South Gate CA. Before entering the military he had worked for Iowa Illinois Gas and Electric. Curt then served in the US Navy and the US Marine Corp. He had been active duty during WWII, the Korea Conflict, Cuban Missile Crisis, and the Vietnam War. He retired from the USMC in 1973. He then worked for the MTA in Des Moines, IA, as Superintendent of Transportation. He later worked for John Ruan, Des Moines as a Loss Prevention Engineer, where he retired in 1991. He and his wife then moved back to the Quad City area. He was fond of animals, especially his dogs, HoJo and Baby Girl and his cats, Smedley, Little Guy and Inky. Survivors include: his wife of 53 years, Nadine Johnson of Davenport; daughter and son-in-law, Priscilla and Rick Simmons of Moline, IL; son, Danny Johnson of Des Moines; grandchildren (spouse) Tammy Johnson-Showers (Brett Showers), Michael (Jennifer) Johnson, Tracy Jo (Troy) Mulliken; great-grandchildren, Kalin, Meg, Ashton, Andrew, Robert Drew, Zachary, Payton, Morgan Jo, Seth and Gunner; sisters and brother-in-law, Rose Marie Krebs of Clinton, IA, Edith and Harold Hemphill of Milan, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Curtis Johnson, son, Michael Johnson, grandson, Robert Vaughn, sister, Patty Web, brothers, Charles, Chet and Gene Johnson.
