Funeral services for Stanley D. Knutson, 79, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:00AM Saturday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Knutson died Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport, IA. Memorials may be made to the family. Stan was born March 12, 1930 in Story City, IA, the son of Arthur and Alma (Skogerboe) Knutson. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Susan Brinton in 1977. She died July 19, 1999. He had worked for McCarthy Construction and Bear Manufacturing, Rock Island and also out of The Laborer's Union 309, Rock Island, retiring in 1992. Stan had been a kind and generous person, who loved to go to church. He enjoyed country music, playing bingo, and cards with his "girlfriends." Survivors include his daughter, Peggy Sue Minteer of Moline, IL; stepsons, Ed Stacey Jr. of Monmouth, IL, Bill Stacey of Hillsdale, IL; 6 grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Sterling and Garnet Knutson of Ames, IA. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister, Lois Moore, brothers, Lavern and Phillip Knutson.
