Obituary

Funeral services for Sue B. Minas, 87, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:30 AM Wednesday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL, where a Trisagion (Prayer) Service will be held at 6:30PM. Miss. Minas died Friday, July 14, 2006 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline, IL, where she had been a life member. Sue Minas was born March 5, 1919 in East Moline, IL, the daughter of Charles and Bessie (Pantos) Minas. She was a life resident of East Moline. She was a graduate of United Township High School Class of 1936. She attended Augustana College. Sue began working a as paralegal at the law firm of Katz, McAndrews and Teleen, Rock Island. She retired as an the Office Manager after nearly 50 years of service. She was very active in the Young Republicans on a local and national level. She traveled extensively on a personal level and for the Republican Party as secretary, delegate, and representative to numerous conventions. She was proud of the fact that she had the opportunity to go to President Eisenhower's Inauguration and be a guest at his Gettysburg farm. She was a member of Short Hills Country Club, Pilot Club, Daughters of Penelope, and the Philoptochos Club. She remained a faithful and supportive Augustana Alumni. Survivors include: sisters, Eleni Korakakis of Kalamata, Greece, Sophie Minas of Leesburg, FL; brother, James Minas of East Moline, IL; many nieces and nephews including, Diane and Alex Lamacki of East Moline, IL, Deno and Barb Minas of Coal Valley, Bill and Linda Minas of Colona, IL; many great nieces and nephews including, Nick and Jackie Minas, Allison and Ian Everhard, Jimmy Lamacki, Angela Minas, and Drew Minas; great-great nephews, Caiden Minas, Avin Everhard.
