Funeral services for Susan "Sue" Abel, 74, of Colona, IL, will be 10 am Friday at St Patrick's Catholic Church, Colona. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 4-7 pm Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 pm. Mrs. Abel died Sunday, July 4, 2021, at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, Rockford, IL.

Sue was born November 17, 1946, in Moline, IL, the daughter of Angelo and Lila (Bledsoe) Gargano. She was a graduate of United Township High School. She married Don Abel December 5, 1964, in Colona. She worked at her family's Maid-Rite for over 20 years. She was a Die Hard Chicago Cubs Fan and loved to go shopping with her daughter. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She loved her church and had a deep faith in her religion.

Survivors include her husband, Don; children, Rodney (Mary Kay) Abel, Silvis, IL, Roger (Laura) Abel, Genoa, IL, and Rhonda Bewley (Shannon Heath) Bettendorf, IA; grandchildren, Jake, Karlyn, Max, Harlee Ann, and Heather; great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Avalynn, and Kinslee; siblings, Richard (Joyce) Gargano, Morgan Hills, CA, and Pat (Lee) Johnson, Colona; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
