Susan Diane Carroll, 77, of East Moline, passed away peacefully at home on September 24, 2026, following a cancer diagnosis in August. She was born on August 29, 1949, to Margoriette and Froy Rice.

Susan was a 1967 graduate of United Township High School. She worked for many years at IBP/Tyson and later became a caregiver with Help at Home, where her caring nature was put to good use.

Susan was a creative and sentimental soul who found joy in the things she loved. She enjoyed gardening, crafting, sewing and quilting, and especially writing poetry and short stories. She could be stubborn when she believed in something, but that same determination was a part of what made her uniquely Susan. She cherished her memories, her family, and the people who became dear to her.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, Margoriette and Froy Rice; her sisters, Patricia Long, Annette Holmes and Linda Rice; and her daughter, Tara Gates.

She is survived by her sister, Debra Raines; her son, Aaron (Lisa) Carroll; her grandchildren and great-grandson; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Susan will be remembered for her creativity, her sentimental heart, her strong will, and the love she shared with the people around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

A Rosary will be recited 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 28th, at Divine Mercy Parish at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, IL, with a Mass of Christian Burial following the Rosary at church. Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements.
