Susie Mae Atkins, 72, Silvis died Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at her home with her family at her bedside. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2007 from 11 AM to 1PM at the First Church of the Nazarene, 1010 N. Clark Street, Davenport, IA. At Susie's request her body will be cremated. Memorials may be made to Genesis Hospice. Susie Austin was born November 8, 1934 in Memphis, TN, the daughter of Mark and Suzy Austin. She married Jim Atkins in 1949. She had worked as a meat wrapper at local grocery stores for 16 years. She loved country music and was a former member and past board member of the Mississippi Valley Country Music Association. Susie loved her children and is survived by children and spouses; James Robert and Linda Atkins, Prosser WA, Steve and Mary Atkins, Davenport, Donna and Mick DeLaRosa, Silvis, Debbie Hall, DeWitt, IA, David Atkins, Davenport, and Rhonda Sawyer, Houston, TX, 25 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, brothers Jim, Mississippi, Roy, Wilton, IA, sisters Mary Catherine, Arlington, TN, and Annie, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Mark, Fred, daughter Louise Wallace and a granddaughter Tammy Atkins-Smith.
