Funeral services for Suzanna "Suzie" Ortiz, 88, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 am Monday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00-5:00 pm Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 1:00 pm. Mrs. Ortiz died Thursday, August 16, 2018, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, IA.

Suzanna Gomez was born September 20, 1929, in Silvis, IL, the daughter of Paul and Ruby Castro Gomez Sr. She married Pedro "Pete" Ortiz June 13, 1949, in Fort Madison, IA. Pete died December 20, 2015. Suzie had worked as a florist for the former Churuvia Florist, Eagle Food, and HyVee. She was a wonderful cook, she followed the Chicago Cubs and Bears, and enjoyed watching birds, especially finches. She was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and had been a lifetime member of the VFW 8890 Auxiliary.While in the Auxiliary, she won several awards for her "Poppy" displays.

Survivors include her children, Patricia (Gregory) Ramirez, Colona, David Ortiz, Rock Island, and Michael Ortiz, Galesburg, IL; 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; siblings, Paul (Linda) Gomez Jr., East Moline, Mercedes (Frank) Segura, Silvis, Rose (Lyle) Baeza, Sterling, IL, Jim (Coleen) Gomez, Hampton, IL; sister-in-law, Mary Gomez, Silvis, many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Nancy Ortiz; sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Ron Raymond; and brother, Joe Gomez.
