Terese Schleich was born in Troy, NY on January 1, 1927, the daughter of Anthony and Grace (Bounds) Schleich. She married Clarence (Clix) Vyncke in 1948 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Rock Island. They were married for 65 years. Terry graduated from St. Mary's High School in Moline and Marycrest College in Davenport. She was a UT high school substitute teacher, and an employee of the IRS and the Department of the Army at the Rock Island Arsenal.
Terry was a long-time member of St. Anne Parish and was very involved with many church, school and community activities. She loved playing cards with her friends and all of her family. Terry's legacy is far-reaching. She led a life of service, and was a role model to many, especially her family.
Most notably, Terry was a superb organizer who could easily figure out how to efficiently run her 7 kids to 28 different activities and pick up her husband from work, all with 1 family car. Whew! Terry and Clix were quite a team. They were active members of the community, making many life-long friends and memories.
She was most proud of her family, and the pride was mutual! She was very supportive of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their activities and always encouraged them to follow their dreams.
Terry chose this quote as a reminder to her family "You come into the world not because you choose to, or where you choose to, but because the world has much need of you." (Anonymous). How fortunate for all of us who knew Terry and Clix that the world needed them here in our lives.
Survivors include her children, Therese (Bob) Roman, Silvis, Barb (Ken) Brooks, East Moline, Dave (Cherri) Vyncke, Moline, Curt (Joyce) Vyncke, Holland, MI, Rob Vyncke, Silvis, Mary Jeanne King, Bristow, VA, and Susie (Mickey) Clay, Davenport; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and brother, Jack (Irene) Schleich, Las Vegas, NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence "Clix" Vyncke; infant son, Donald Anthony Vyncke; brothers, Bill Schleich, Donald Schleich; sisters, Jeanne Schleich, Grace Dalgleish, Louise Schleich.
