Obituary

Funeral service for Terry J. Mumma, 68, a resident of Sealy, TX, formerly of East Moline, IL, will be 6:30 PM Tuesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00PM until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Private burial services will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery on Arsenal Island, Rock Island, IL. Terry went home with the Lord on Tuesday, February 22, 2011, at the Bellville General Hospital, Bellville Texas after an extended illness. In lieu of flowers and statuary, memorials may be made to the family. Terry Janice Huskey was born October 2, 1942 in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was the daughter of Robert and Claraetta (Owen) Huskey. Terry was a 1960 graduate of United Township High School and attended classes at Black Hawk College majoring in Art. She was united in marriage to Ken Mumma on August 27, 1977 at the former Moline Gospel Temple, Moline, IL. Terry served the Lord in many capacities. She loved to read as well as create many arts and crafts projects. She was adept at water color, oil painting, crewel and Japanese Bunka embroidery. She won honors for her development of the Japanese display at the International Showcase in Bettendorf, IA. She raised and sheared sheep. She then carded, dyed, spun, and wove the wool into gifts for family and friends. She was best known for her love of the Lord and children. Her ministry was raising thirty seven special need foster children. Terry is survived by her loving husband, Ken; children, Geoffrey Cherry, Chicago, IL, Michelle Ann Cherry, San Francisco, CA, and David Mumma at home; granddaughter, Meagan Cherry; great-granddaughter, Zoe, both of Redondo Beach, CA; mother, Claraetta Huskey, East Moline, IL; sister Holley Sweat, East Moline, IL; brother, Bob Huskey, East Moline, IL; as well as the 37 foster children spread across the land.
